Interesting study comparing personalized models to some nomograms for planning arcuate keratotomy surgeries.

The Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery latest issue features the article "Optimization of surgical parameters based on patient-specific models: Application to arcuate keratotomy". The study compares personalized planning for arcuate keratotomy (based on Optimeyes) with some currently used nomograms (Donnefeld, Lindstrom, intrastromal). The results show that the surgical parameters proposed by the personalized model resulted in more reliable postoperative astigmatism. Furthermore it concludes that the potential of nomograms has been exhausted; if you want to improve patient treatment you need a personalized approach such as provided by Optimeyes.Oskar Truffer, first author of the study, works for Optimo Medical AG since February 2019.
